COURSE OBJECTIVES

The course has been designed to enable all participants leave the training with a set of new knowledge, tools, and skills and direct experience of how to implement safe handling of chemical especially chemical under hazardous category and how to work safely with chemicals. Most of the work expose workers to the ill health  and having  potential environmental impact. The better we understand the potential risk, the more effectively it can be managed to prevent pollution, personal harm and ill-health arising from hazardous substances.

COURSE OUTCOME

• Understand the national laws and requirements of purchasing, handling, packaging and labelling of chemicals, and its applications
• Explains chemical hazards, storage & transfer do’s and don’ts.
• Outline of chemical hazards of storage, handling, transfer and dispose and adequate measures to prevent accidents / spillages
• In the event of a spillage, safe methods for clean up of spillages to protect workers and the environment
• Understanding of the purpose and contents of chemical safety data sheet (CSDS)
