INTRODUCTION:

• Consultancy on dust hazard analysis has been performed for IOI Pan-Century Oleochemical (IOI-PCOC) in Pasir Gudang. The consultancy involves laboratory testing to assess and determine the explosion characteristics of dust sample which the explosion data is unknown.
• The sample dust was tested in accordance with ASTM E1226, Standard Test Method for Explosibility of Dust Clouds: Maximum pressure rise (Pmax), maximum pressure rise rate (dP/dt), and deflagration index (KSt)[1]; ASTM E1515, Standard Test Method for Minimum Explosible Concentration of Combustible Dusts (MEC)[2] and ASTM E2019, Standard Test Method for Minimum Ignition Energy of a Dust Cloud in Air (MIE).
